We were delighted to purchase this yearling colt by Pinatubo at the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale.
βThis colt for me was a standout, he walked and talked class and had the pedigree to match that, Galileo as a broodmare sire needs no introduction and his sire Pinatubo will be the talk of town in the next few months. We werenβt leaving without this colt.β
His sire, Pinatubo, was a seven-time winner, earning nearly Β£1 million in prize money. Highlights of his career include winning all six of his starts as a two-year-old, including the Group 1 Vincent O'Brien National Stakes and the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes. As a three-year-old, he finished in the top three in all his starts, including a victory in the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat.
Pinatuboβs progeny are now hitting a purple patch. His leading colt, Wolf Of Badenoch, finished second in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes and shares the same cross as our yearling, with his dam also being by Galileo.
His dam, Brandybend, won on her second start as a three-year-old and was highly rated, achieving a peak rating of 99 following two Listed placings. She is by the mighty Galileo and out of the Classic-winning mare Elusive Wave. Of her three foals that have raced, the best progeny so far is Barrel Aged, a two-time winner this year.
Gascony has been a fun horse for his owners this season, running consistently and giving them plenty of racing, but his highlight came when he broke his maiden at Epsom, pulling clear of his rivals under Tommie Jakes.
